Practical Experience versus Book Learning.

I think practical experience (just jumping in) gets you farther faster, if that’s what you’re looking for. Many of my clients tell me they don’t feel prepared. They don’t feel ready. They need to read just one more book. Or clean their office office or organize their schedules first. Before they can launch. Before they can hire me. Before they can do the things they really want to do.

Sorry I was such a bitch. I was birthing a revolution.

My job has been to birth a revolution. And in doing so, I had to upset a lot of people. Letting people feel their own emotions and holding space for them has taken a ton of practice. And I didn’t know that would be a part of my job every day, but I’m so grateful for it.

How fit is your business?

Every damn time I take a spin class with Sammy Friedman of Grooveryde (also luckily my CFO-in-training at Cleveland Flea) or at Harness Cycle, I emerge feeling inspired, empowered, clear. In other words, I feel like myself– a powerful, intelligent, gritty, talented Female Founder.

And today, I found the words to express what I usually want to tell all my coaching clients and business owners at Cleveland Flea– SURE IT’S HARD BUT THAT’S NO REASON TO QUIT.

Travel: Up North.

Sometimes you’ve just got to get out of your element. Or back into one that you used to inhabit to remind yourself how far you’ve come. I grew up in Michigan, on the east side of the state. I had long planned to visit the Sleeping Bear Dunes and The Grand Hotel but never really made time for it. The visits proved to be both surprising and unsurprising, charmingly authentic and touristy-fake. At times I found myself taking long, slow exhales. Breathing in the cool, crisp forest air. At other times, this world felt foreign and scary and like I was stepping into the past (not in a good way). I found a lot of things that provided inspiration, as well as introspection. I think that’s what travel is meant to do! Here’s a look at what I did, where I went and what I thought.

The difference between managing current success + maintaining success.

As I became the boss of a bunch of new badasses, it also struck me that I needed to think through what their own issues might be. Listen– we all have issues. Even super talented people. Success is a thing you keep working at and redefining. Read on to get some insight on the difference between Maintaining + Managing Success.

Therapy. (and some self-coaching)

I often come the the conclusion that I should be able to ‘fix’ myself. Usually what I want to do is have someone else check me, like am I being too hard on myself? Am I seeing something from a really skewed point of view? More on my reasons for Therapy + Coaching in the blog.

Modern Dating: It's not you, it's me.

Every once in a while I'd like to use this space to talk about more than just business, because business ladies have other stuff going on like dating or planning trips or having sex or dealing with anxiety or contemplating having children, so here we are: 5-minute modern dating. Rewriting your money story.

This one word carries so much meaning throughout my life (and no doubt yours). I do remember always never having enough. And that being an embarrassing, scary, paralyzing thought.

I remember how I transitioned from not enough into "just not yet" but well-practiced habits don't go away easily. Especially when you're in a constant state of growth within a startup.

Before you scroll any further... Hi! I'm Steph Sheldon, a content architect and creative director currently calling Chicago home, though my journey has taken me from 15 years in Cleveland to an 18-month adventure in Turkey.

My world revolves around designing and producing websites filled with content that's not just seen but felt. With a background in architecture, a knack for DIY, the experience of founding a fast-growth startup, and a heart dedicated to business coaching, I dive into photography as my personal escape and expression.

My greatest joy comes from helping people—especially women founders—uncover and express their true selves online and through their digital products, peeling away the layers of social conditioning that have kept their authentic selves hidden. I'm honored you've stepped into my digital home and studio, a place where creativity meets business in a dance designed just for you.

As someone who believes creativity is not just a talent but a fundamental human right, I see our creative blocks as the result of a world that hasn't always welcomed our brilliance. Here, loving our uniqueness is our strength, while the pressure to conform has too often dimmed our individual lights in exchange for safety in numbers. But it's our differences that make us thrive.

So, I invite you to dive into the blog or sign up for a creative consultation. Let's work together to break free from what's holding you back and move towards the work that's always been meant for you.
