Like I’ve said before, I have some of the most talented most passionate clients around. These are people I admire so much- their creativity, their courage, their desire to live their best business (and personal) lives.

For us, I think it’s pretty connected. A business that’s built with your heart won’t always want to you to clock out at 5pm or give yourself the weekend to recover. And I don’t think that’s a bad idea. But what I think is necessary is to understand your human needs as well as your business needs, and find a way to create boundaries to deliver the most love you can to each.

Today, I’m sharing my client Lizzie, who I adore so much. She’s talented and brave and always herself.

Enjoy.

Who: I’m Lizzie! A wedding & couples photographer from Cleveland.

Coaching Program: 1-on-1 Coaching

What is different in your life now as opposed to when you first called me?

I’m a full-time wedding photographer! Two years ago I was working in higher education and trying to start up my business. So much has changed!

Why did you sign up for coaching to begin with?

I needed a swift kick in the butt. And honestly, it was more therapeutic personally. Which then translated over into my business. I was lacking in confidence and direction.

What thoughts did you have stopping you from making your life / biz happen on a larger level?

I made a million excuses why I wasn’t: good enough, qualified, tough, prepared or smart to pursue my desire to be an entrepreneur. It was a whole lot of lies I told myself & very little action to correct it.

What did you believe very strongly back then (that probably didn't help you live a dreamy life) that you don't anymore?

That I can’t possibly sustain a lifestyle and financial security based on running a business of my own.

Was it scary to make a big change in your life?

YES! But equal parts thrilling. I kept saying, “what’s the alternative? I don’t try? And then what?” The alternative of not trying was wayyyyy worse than trying to change and failing. I’ve failed plenty, did a ton of soul searching, still fail but I always push forward.

Was coaching helpful? Why?

Yes! I just discussed this with someone today. Coaching holds you accountable in ways your closest community cannot. They’re there to cheer you on & build you up: not provide you with hard truths. A coach isn’t there to fluff you up. They’re a source of honesty and tough love.

What skepiticism did you have about coaching before you signed up?

I was worried I couldn’t be totally honest. It’s like going to therapy. It’s shameful to vocalize your faults and failures to someone you don’t know. But there’s also freedom in letting it go, getting your ass kicked and coming out tougher. I was mortified of expressing my failures and now I’m like, here it is.

What have you accomplished in your life in the last year that you never thought possible- or maybe you dreamed it but didn't think it would be likely?

I’ve doubled my income, hired an accountant, financial planner and started doing business evaluations. I’ve increased my clientele. But most of all: I’ve found my voice. I’ve let go of trends & expectations and decided to just do the best I can to serve my clients and take care of myself.

What's your biggest dream for the future?

To be an educator one day. I’d love to provide mentorship & business assistance to new photographers. I also want to support my family and give us the freedom to really enjoy this life.

Anything else you'd like to share?

You’re the dopest. Thanks for being there when I was just starting out. I won’t forget it.

Every time I read a client testimonial, my heart grows 10x. I love helping people tackle their toughest thoughts so that they can live their best lives.
