Are you emotionally ready to start a business?

How you approach your world will dramatically effect your happiness and how you feel in your life and in growing your creative business. And it’ll also effect how you treat everyone around you. I’m all for people chasing their dreams but when they mistreat others around them, cut corners, lie about their businesses, buy followers and do other things that I wouldn’t say are of the highest ethics, citing that business is hard or overwhelming as the answer then maybe they’re not emotionally ready for the challenge.

Let’s see if you’re cut out for it.

What energy will you bring to business-building and running (or life in general I guess even).

Business and life won’t come without struggle or challenge. When ‘disappointments’ or ‘setbacks’ happen, who will you be? You have a choice.

Leading with fear-based energy is essentially believing that the worst is always around the corner and that you’re preventing disaster at every moment and that for the most part it’s all too hard that who knows if it’ll work.

Leading with love-based energy is being willing to experience the good and the bad, the up and the down all with a focus on curiosity, self-care, care for others and being the best version of yourself in every situation (even the really really challenging ones). AND seeking support where you need it.

Those people / business owners who lead with fear-based energy will:

  • See much of the world as evidence of their negative thinking. “I KNEW they’d hate it.”

  • Not experience the contrast of life (ie, they’ll experience mostly negative and not experience so much positive)

  • Interpret most moments of normal human conflict with anger or avoid it all together instead of being civil or just talking through it

  • In a nutshell be miserable and be miserable to be around because they will interpret much of life’s circumstances as negative and as evidence that everything will fail

  • Turn clients into their bosses- the exact situation that most people were opting out of

  • Shift their personal responsibilities onto others

  • Blame customers / clients / collaborators / employees / friends / the weather / family members / etc. for their failures or negative feelings

  • Not take creative chances (too risky)

  • Burn the fuck out or give up

  • Not typically evolve or get better

  • Not appreciate all the value that is right in front of them

i’m not saying shit won’t be scary. But approaching with curiosity / love will dramatically change how you live your life / build your biz.

Those people / business owners who lead with love-based energy will:

  • See much of the world as evidence of their positive thinking. “I knew they’d love this new bag design!”

  • Experience the contrast of life (there will be tough times, but there will be good times to balance that out)

  • Interpret most moments of normal human conflict with compassion or find a way to see conflict in a different way.

  • In a nutshell be positive and be fun to be around because they will interpret much of life’s circumstances as interesting / curious / meant to happen and as evidence that everything is right in the world.

  • Be in charge of their own businesses / lives just as they should be.

  • Have high personal responsibility.

  • Take ownership of their failures or negative feelings- and maybe see them in a more positive light as parts of the path they’ve chosen to getting good at this thing.

  • Take creative chances.

  • Care for their creative / emotional health.

  • Evolve quickly.

  • Appreciate all the value that is right in front of them.

How do you want to experience the world?

Change your outlook + build the life / biz of your dreams.
